Creation Symposium 2025

Unveiling Creation: Where Science Meets Faith and We’re Glad We’re Not Apes

18 January 2025 @ Precept Singapore

Precept Singapore Creation Symposium 2025
A sight to behold--a full house of participants!

In the wink and blink of an eye—without any bling—our much-anticipated Creation Symposium has come and gone. We rejoice and give thanks for the 130 people who joined us as Dr. Tjin expounded on the fascinating and curious topic of Creation. Emphatically quipping “As a scientist…,” he dished out a wealth of scientific data and arguments—distinguishing theory from hypothesis, discussing potassium, carbon dating—and drawing chuckles from the youths in our midst over protons, neutrons, and electrons. The enthusiastic responses from the audience also drew a Cheshire cat grin of approval from Dr. Tjin.

Gawking at the 68-page slide deck that Dr. Tjin generously gifted post-conference, this non-scientific someone wouldn't even attempt to articulate the treasure trove of knowledge he imparted. However, the case study of Mount Saint Helens did leave a lasting impression. Oh, and let's not forget the emphatic repetition of “I'm glad I'm not an ape.” Us too!

The tricky part of any conference is the Q&A session; you can never predict the response. It warmed our hearts to witness the spontaneity and engagement, making us realize more time should have been allocated. Yet that didn't stop enthusiastic participants from engaging with Dr. Tjin during the tea break and afterward, while others shopped for books in the other room. Yes, we had a book sale that day too!

Informative and filled with much learning!

The consensus among those who dropped us a note of thanks and those we asked was that it was “informative and filled with much learning.” Indeed, it was a blessed time. We extend our sincere gratitude to our speaker, Mr. Tjin Swee Chuan, and give all praise to our awesome God for this time of learning and community gathering.

In the grand tapestry of creation, we're constantly reminded of the divine wisdom and power that fashioned the universe. Every scientific discovery is a testament to God's unfathomable creativity and the intricate design of His creation. His intelligent design.

D4Y | Discover4Yourself Workshop

Rooted in His Word, Nurturing Faith in Our Children

17 January 2025 @ Precept Singapore

Precept Singapore D4Y Workshop January 2025
The 'graduating' class of D4Y January 2025

Creation Symposium was not the only exciting event that graced us in January. Glory be to God for the successful run of our D4Y workshop that occurred just the day before! Eleven participants delved into the depths of our D4Y material, learning how to teach children to study the Bible inductively, and enjoyed a time of fellowship over a char siew and chicken rice lunch.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to our D4Y trainers, Mimi Voo and Lena Goh, for their dedication—not only in teaching others but in their passion for the next generation. They continually hone and craft the workshop to equip Sunday school teachers, parents, and grandparents to nurture children in the ways of the Lord through His infallible Word.

New MOH guidelines on screen use for children under 12

In a world where technology serves as both nanny and teacher, the traditional arts of reading and doodling are fading. Amidst the stress of academic competition, online media wields immense power in shaping our children's worldviews. This issue transcends borders—it's a global challenge.

And seriously, when our government acknowledges a problem and comes up with guidelines, you know it's a sign of brewing trouble and imminent danger.

So here’s our call to action! Join us for our next D4Y session on 4th April 2025—a special session crafted by our trainers specifically for parents and grandparents. Let's ensure that our children grow up rooted in God's Word, ready to face the world with discernment and faith.

Together, we can make a profound impact on the next generation, safeguarding their hearts and minds in these challenging times. Let us rise to the occasion and train up our children in the way of the Lord, so that when they are old, they will not depart from it—for His glory.

Our Young Adults (YA) Classes Have Begun

Embracing a New Season of Spiritual Growth

Precept Singapore Young Adults Class

Praise the Lord for the smooth commencement of all our Young Adult (YA) classes! We rejoice for the newcomers among us and those resuming their Precept Bible study journey. We are deeply thankful for the regulars who faithfully continue to journey with us

We kickstarted the year with three classes: the 40-Minute “The Power of Knowing God” on Tuesday evenings, the 40-Minute “Loving God and Others: The True Heart of Faith,” and Precept Upon Precept® (PUP) 1, 2, 3 John on Wednesday evenings. How wonderful it is to see a young adult in our midst step up to co-lead the Tuesday evening class. We are also grateful for our dedicated Wednesday leader who will continue to facilitate the 40-Minute Study Series, as long as we have participants—God willing.

This past week, we witnessed the launch of the PUP Philippians class on Monday evenings and the New Inductive Series Studies (NISS) on Thursday evenings. Praise the Lord! We marvel at the intriguing phenomenon of class enrollments: some classes with promising numbers at the start become stagnant, while others with initially low enrollment saw a spike on the last week before classes began. Perhaps, as Jesus said, "the last will be first." 😂

Through it all, we give thanks to the Lord for the 44 Young Adults who are committing their time to engage in God’s Word. We seek your prayers for meaningful engagement, good time management, a fruitful time of learning together in God’s Word...and perseverance. May the Lord bring more Young Adults to join us in our classes.

As for those who have yet to sign up, it is never too late to begin or continue your Bible study journey. Trust that it’s God’s perfect timing for you!

Consider joining our next season of YA classes starting in March 2025:

We give thanks and pray for those who have commenced or are commencing their Precept studies for the year, that they will be richly impacted and deeply engaged in the Word—by the renewing of their minds. Then they will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing, and perfect will (Romans 12:2b).

With this, we bid you adieu until our next update. In the midst of political turmoil and natural disasters, let's keep the affected nations in our prayers. The call to know Jesus is urgent, and we pray that more will come to know Him personally through His Word.

'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" - John 14:6
